{"id":1943,"date":"2023-09-21T10:02:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-21T10:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/colsandago.it\/senza-categoria\/the-winehunter-award-2023-premia-leccezionale-e-vigorosa-unicita-del-wildbacher\/"},"modified":"2025-06-04T07:13:02","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T07:13:02","slug":"the-winehunter-award-2023-premia-leccezionale-e-vigorosa-unicita-del-wildbacher","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/colsandago.it\/en\/news-en\/the-winehunter-award-2023-premia-leccezionale-e-vigorosa-unicita-del-wildbacher\/","title":{"rendered":"The WineHunter Award 2023 honors Wildbacher\u2019s exceptional and vigorous uniqueness"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The publication of <strong>The WineHunter Award<\/strong> guide has been announced: a collection of the prestigious tasting work of the eight tasting committees under the guidance of Helmuth K\u00f6cher \u2013 The WineHunter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Approximately 8,000 wines were tasted in the tasting sessions, where the different aspects and characteristics of each wine were evaluated to award the prestigious prizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the 2023 edition, Col Sandago competed with some of its best wines, but it was the uniqueness of Wildbacher that won the favor of the judges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This uniqueness had been already highlighted by Luigi Veronelli: <em>\u201cThe grape variety known as Wildbacher is one of those few, very few, born in foreign lands that have found such an ideal place \u2013 Col Sandago \u2013 that they can no longer leave\u2026\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Wildbacher Metodo Classico Extra Brut 2018<\/strong>, a fascinating and persistent expression of the variety, received the Gold Award. The Rosso Award went to <strong>Wildbacher Colli Trevigiani IGT 2018<\/strong>, Col Sandago\u2019s iconic red, with limited and precious production and great aging potential, and to <strong>Wildbacher Brut Ros\u00e9<\/strong>, the refined Charmat Method sparkling wine with aromatic notes of wild strawberry and rose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wildbacher, \u201ca rare diamond with a thousand facets\u201d, is a grape variety from Styria that was saved from oblivion thanks to Martino Zanetti\u2019s intuition and determination. In the hands of expert agronomists, this proud and rather stubborn vine grows like a great little masterpiece, the rows are scrupulously designed, the small bunches, with compact and slightly fleshy grapes, are harvested strictly by hand.
